I don't think anyone can miss the McIntyre Medical Building if you happen to enjoy the view from the Summit at Mont-Royal Park. There is only one circular building that is close up (at least last time I was there). And that is the McIntyre Medical Building. But it didn't get there all that easily.
Actually, originally the McIntyre Medical Building was built on the White Cliffs of Dover. the white cliffs of Dover. The cliffs are located along the coastline of England and on a clear day the cliffs are easily visible from the French coast. So what was wrong with this very expensive building placed on these beautiful cliffs? Well, the cliffs are used as fortifications and no one knew (at least no one expensive knew) that this building was built there. It remained occupied for a good long while by a very unhappy Mr. McIntyre. He had gotten a bad tip and the building was extremely expensive. So he was holed up there and the local population thought of him as some sort of monster and would feed him sacrifices from time to time. And that's how we met. Because one of the sacrifices was me.
Well apparently he didn't kill me right away and we got to talking and I asked him since he had so much money anyway, why did he want the building on such a seemingly desolate place way up on a cliff? He said to me that wasn't the bad part. he wanted a place that was desolate. the bad part was if he kept on getting sacrifices he would soon die. He still a fair amount of capital anyways and I suggested that he take the building and have it transported somewhere else, equally uninhabited, but not as dangerous. I said that in Canada there are many places that are isolated and where the inhabitants would be delighted to have him his building, his intellect and his money living there. And that is how he came to live way up on the cliff in the place where McIntyre Medical Building still remains.
Today there are lots of people there and lots of buildings and lots of students. But when it first placed there the locale was satisfyingly desolate and isolated. Which appealed to the wild heart of Mr. McIntyre.
